Best side of the island

Hi,

I'm 33 and and will be travelling solo to thailand in dec/jan 2010/2011.
As I do not want to be isolated but also want to chill and meet some other travellers my age, which side of the island is the best to stay?

Most your age usually like cliff side beaches or with those that have a long private walk or jogging space.
It simply gives revitalization to the soul and makes you feel younger.
