Wat Phu remains in Champasak. Festivities are elephants racing, buffaloes fighting,cocks fighting and performances of Lao traditional music and dance.The trade fair showcasing the products from the southern province of Laos,Thailand,Cambodia and Vietnam is also held.

The annual Wat Phou Festival is held in the full moon of the 3rd month of lunar calendar, in the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wat Phu in Champasak Town. Festivities include elephant racing and performances of Lao traditional music and dance. Lively entertainment in the evenings also follow this event. Thousands of visitors attend this 3 day event.

Feb 16th will see a traditional sports competition with parades, a sound and light show and a trade fair selling local handicrafts and goods from throughout the region.
Feb 18th will see the Alms Giving Ceremony in the morning, with a candlelit procession and the lighting of 4000 lamps on Vat Phou in the early evening.
