Ordinary Life of Papua New Guinea people
« on: May 14, 2011, 04:16:47 PM »
Imagine for a moment that we live in a constant smog? And imagine what it would be so always?

In Papua New Guinea people live on a volcano. 1994 eruption of Tavurvur  is an active volcano that lies near Rabaul in Papua New Guinea. It is a  sub-vent of the Rabaul caldera and lies on the eastern rim of the larger  feature. The volcano is most well known for its devastating eruptions  over Rabaul.

Mt Tavurvur is the most well known volcano in Rabaul caldera, and has  erupted as recently in January 2009. town was almost completely filled  with ashes. Many people died, most of the buildings were destroyed.  Although part of the city and was later restored, its population after  the disaster has fallen by more than a third. Hardly anyone could have  imagined in Rabaul, that their prosperous city will be razed to the  ground. And yet it happened. On the serene town collapsed hundreds of  thousands of tons of hot rocks and volcanic ash.

Volcanoes are constantly watching the restless volcano. He still could not calm down and continue every 15 minutes volcano throw into the sky hundreds of pounds of ash. And every time a cloud is the wind and falls on the heads of those who did not want or can not leave this ghost town.  Large ash settles at the foot of the volcano to the old airport and an  abandoned part of town, but small, like dust and ashes for a long time  club in the air.

Rabaul is a township in East New Britain province, Papua New Guinea. The town was the provincial capital and most important settlement in the province until it was destroyed in 1994 by falling ash of a volcanic eruption. During the eruption, ash was sent thousands of metres into the air. It caused rain which caused buildings to collapse. 80% of the buildings in Rabaul collapsed. After the eruption the capital was moved to Kokopo, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) away.

Rabaul is continually threatened by volcanic activity due to being built on the edge of Rabaul caldera, a flooded caldera of a large volcano.
