The attack on Pearl Harbor (called Hawaii Operation or Operation Z by the Japanese Imperial General Headquarters and the Battle of Pearl Harbor) was a bombshell military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack was projected as a preventive action in order to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from inquisitive with military actions the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States.
The USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor is the mainly popular visitor magnetism in Hawaii. Pearl Harbor is located on the south coast of the island of Oahu and it is the largest harbor in Hawaii. It is also a United States National Historic Landmark.
There are four main tourist magnetisms in Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Bowfin Submarine, the USS Missouri Battleship, and the PacificAviationMuseum. The visitor hubs and museums for the Arizona Memorial and the Bowfin Submarine are situated next to each other, on the shore of Pearl Harbor, not far from the Aloha Stadium. A ferry bus transports visitors from the Arizona/Bowfin area to FordIsland so they can tour the Missouri Battleship and visit the PacificAviationMuseum. The van stop for the FordIsland shuttle is positioned between the USS Arizona Museum and the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum. There is no extra charge for the shuttle if you have purchased a ticket for the USS Missouri Battleship Tour or the PacificAviationMuseum.
Most Pearl Harbor guests see the USS Arizona Memorial and the Bowfin Submarine first, because they are placed next each other on the Oahu mainland. Next they naturally take the shuttle to FordIsland to visit the USS Missouri Battleship and the PacificAviationMuseum. The USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri Battleship are actually located right next to each other, in the water just off of FordIsland, but you travel to the Arizona Memorial by boat, and you travel to the USS Missouri via a shuttle bus that takes you across the AdmiralClareyBridge to FordIsland
